Fantastic essay by Tom Bissell in the New York Times book review today, Everything About Everything: David Foster Wallace's 'Infinite Jest' at 20. It's adapted from his foreword to be included in the 20th Anniversary Edition of Infinite Jest.

Oops, the eBook version of the new foreword has mistakes with many words run together with no spaces. The text of the book seems fine.
