Maybe someone can help me with a question that has been bugging me. I have been a DFW fan for some time now. I have read all of his works and many of the critical and autobiographica l books about him. The first book that I read by him was Brief Interviews With Hideous Men. I came to this work in a somewhat strange manner. I had been reading a lot of G.I. Gurdjeiff at the time and was doing research on some of his works. You may be familiar with the Gurdjeiff book titled Meetings with Remarkable Men. The title of Wallace's short story collection struck me as interesting and I bought it and read it mistakenly expecting it to have some reference to Gurdjeiff's work. I have never come across anyone anywhere even bring up Gurdjeiff in reference to Wallace. Is this something that I am just putting together in my head or is there anything anywhere that speaks of Wallace being interested or influenced by Gurdjeiff at all?
