So after struggling with a user registration issue since the site upgrade (which some of you have discovered) I've revisited why I have user registration in the first place... and it turns out the primary reason was to allow commenting on articles without having to run fully fledged forums.
So I've enabled the ability to make comments on articles without needing user registration (and I've enabled the ability to report comments too). All comments are still moderated, but this should allow for the individual article discussion to occur like it used to before the upgrade.
