I understand there's a positive review of D.T. Max's upcoming biography of David Foster Wallace, Every Love Story is a Ghost Story: A Life of David Foster Wallace, over at Kirkus Reviews (but only for paid subscribers at this stage).
So in the meantime... I've had a copy of the biography for a little while, and I'm now able to share just a little bit about it. D.T. Max's biography of David Foster Wallace surprises on almost every page (those advance praise blurbs are spot on), in fact, I'm still stunned at how eye-opening I found it. It's sensitively composed, emotionally powerful, and expertly researched (endnotes packed with extra details and pages and pages of additional sources - impressive). I've always wanted to know more about Wallace's craft - what he does to get his ideas to the page - and this book delivers in this aspect too. There's so much I want to write about!
Highly recommended.
